In 2007 the SAR Station at the German island
of Borkum in the North Sea celebrated its 30th anniversary. For this
reason the airbrush artist Peer Elshoff was chosen to decorate a UH-1D
from the Transport Wing, Lufttransportgeschwader 63, LTG 63 at Hohn
with his magnificent work. He did his job nearly without any stencils.
Peer also was responsible for the paining of the German Navy Sea King
special colours during recent years SAR Meets. The UH-1D sports some famous landmarks from
northern Germany on both sides and the Wings badge bee symbol. Also the
badge of the 2.Squadron is painted on the bottom of the
Huey’s fuselage. By Jens Schymura, Marcus Fülber and Lutz Tonne
